4 November -- We are anxious to share a few photos from our travels. Click here to view our Galapagos Photo Gallery! Plus, Mary Miller at the Exploratorium has now finished putting our audio information and some pictures on the site at www.exploratorium.edu/el_nino

1 September -- We have a few things to report before we leave next week for Ecuador: first, we will have a weight limit traveling to the islands of 20kg (44 lbs), so pack light. If you are bringing expensive camera equipment, make sure you have some way to protect it from possible rain. Secondly, the room where the meeting will be held is not air conditioned, and temperatures are as follows, according to Dr. Santos:

Weather: During September, the average conditions you will find in Santa Cruz (The island where the meeting will be held) are:
Mean Air Surface temperature: 21.5 °C
Mean Sea Surface Temperature: 20.7 °C
Cumulative rainfall: 5.5 mm
Although total rainfall is low, continuous light drizzle with light wind is often possible, so it is advisable that you bring a raincoat.

Currency in Ecuador is in USD. If you are bringing a guest, you may pay directly for the cost of your guest by credit card or cash ($235 for the 6 days and 5 nights) to the travel agency, and either a check or cash to CIIFEN for the cost of the air ticket to/from the Galapagos Islands ($285-$315, depending on which day you are traveling back to Guayaquil). The only other cost for your guest is the $100 entry fee (cash, USD) to the Galapagos National Park. This is collected upon entry to the islands.

Conference attire: casual. Mickey and Jose Luis might wear a tie on opening day, and Mickey says he will bring extra ties just in case someone doesn't want to carry one.

10 August -- The participant list has updated biographical information from those who have sent it to the Organizing Committee. Please send yours to DJan at jan@ucar.edu in order to get it added to the list.

6 July -- Arrangements are proceeding for the meeting! If you wish to make arrangment for a tour before or after the meeting, please contact Mr. Wilson Murillo in Quito. His email is ninfatou@uio.satnet.net or call him at 5932-222-3124. He speaks English and is expecting your requests. Hotel arrangements will be made separately.

16 June -- The tentative participant list has been added to the website, and the links page is now active.

8 June -- If you have not yet sent us your RSVP with the dates you will be traveling to the Galapagos, we will need that information very soon in order to make arrangements from Guayaquil to the meeting site at Puerto Ayora. See the Logistics page for a PDF version of the file.

8 June -- As we are still working on finalizing the participant list, we have temporarily removed it from the website. It will be added again shortly.

3 June -- The latest agenda and participant list are now on line. When they are changed, a notice will be posted here.
