In 2002, the UN University and NCAR sponsored the First Training Workshop for South and Southeast Asia (website). The report is available in PDF here and in MS Word on the website.

The Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) sponsors the CAPaBLE program (Scientific Capacity Building/Enhancement for Sustainable Development in Developing Countries) by providing a Call for Proposals. This workshop is primarily funded by APN through the CAPaBLE program.

The United Nations University's International Network on Water, Environment and Health (INWEH), located at McMaster University in Canada, was created in 1996 to strengthen water management capacity, particularly in develop countries. INWEH and NCAR are jointly organizing the workshop.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is providing some support for the workshop through its Office of Global Programs in Silver Spring, Maryland.

 

The Center for Capacity Building (CCB) is part of the Societal-Environmental Research and Education (SERE) Laboratory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). NCAR is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This workshop also is co-sponsored by the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), the United Nations University's International Network on Water, Environment, and Health (INWEH) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
