The primary organizers of the workshop are Michael H. Glantz and Zafar Adeel, co-principal investigators for the CAPaBLE project, "Prototype Training Workshop for Educators."

Michael (Mickey) Glantz is Director of the Center for Capacity Building, a new entity within the Societal-Environmental Research and Education Laboratory (SERE) at NCAR in Boulder, Colorado. Mickey been instrumental in the preparation of several sections of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) focused on the drylands synthesis that deal with cross-cutting (multidisciplinary) issues. Mickey has been involved in adaptation and mitigation issues relating to sustainable development for many decades. Zafar Adeel is Assistant Director, Program Development, at the UN University's International Network on Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. INWEH s a member of UNU's family of organizations. It was created by the UNU Governing Council in 1996 to strengthen water management capacity, particularly of developing countries, and to provide on-the-ground project support. Adeel has worked on water management issues in a wide region, extending from Northern Africa to the Middle East and Central Asia.
